The sunshine soap, as I like to call it, begins with a nice soothing cup of Lemon balm tea which replaces the water in the recipe. The Olive Oil in this recipe has been solar infused with lemon balm & calendula. French green clay is used for coloring along with dried calendula petals and finely ground lemon balm.
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), is a member of the mint family and embodies a gentle lemony scent. It’s a beloved friend in the garden. Bees and butterflies love it and pesky biting insects prefer to stay away, win win. The first use dates back to Ancient Greece 2000 years ago and it holds the symbolic meaning of virtue, sympathy, and compassion. Known to provide a calming effect on both the skin and on an overactive mind. Rich in antioxidants.
Calendula is one of the only herbs that will hold its true color in handmade soap, which makes it a beautiful addition. However, as we all know, real beauty comes from the inside and Calendula is nothing but gorgeous when it comes to skincare. Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal.
The Lemon balm & Calendula soap is naturally colored with French green clay which gently and naturally exfoliates the skin, leaving it soft and moisturized.
